Nick's Blog:
LIMITED EDITION 2010 fall tour posters
FRIENDS!
we just wanted to share a peek at the new fall 2010 tour posters!
they're printed on a stiffer kind of stock than most posters so they're a little higher quality to hang on your wall - or GET SIGNED after shows - as Nick WILL be signing and taking pictures after each live show this fall.
keep posted for more about the tour from Nick's tour manager - Jillian
She'll be posting blogs from her point of view - Nick will still be posting some here and there as well.
thanks for keeping in touch - hope to see you on the road - please help spread the word about the dates this fall !!
NACA Northern Plains - Jimmy Seas - the Land
What a great run I've had so far!! Drove about 30 hours up to St. Paul, Minnesota for the NACA Northern Plains Conference - www.naca.org - where I was the emcee for the opening night's showcase. :)
What a GREAT experience it was to be back in that region...what energy from the attendees! Its ALWAYS a thrill to play a NACA stage - but there's just something about the northern plains region that is always just that much thrillinger (yep, made it up!)
Anyway, the showcase went so well, which really just means I'll be touring WI, MN, SD, ND, and IA this fall - pretty much the entire season :)
dates will be posting soon, but I can assure you, there will be plenty of chances to see me play live this fall if you're in or around those areas....with some chances on the East Coast as well!!
Jimmy Seas in Green Bay, WI was Friday night - what a great room! the people there are wonderful to work with, the fans that showed were in full effect. I must say, I had the most fun playing this show than I have in perhaps my last 30 or more shows...must be the spring air :)
followed up the Green Bay date with some R&R at the cabin of some friends of mine north of GB in Oconto Falls - man...I'm pretty sure this is closer to what heaven feels like than anything else on earth...closER...I would imagine heaven is challenging to duplicate on Earth...lack of gold streets, mansions, clouds, etc
the pic is a shot of my two favorite boys ready to play a great night at Jimmy Seas in GB - these two fellas and I are going to be releasing some new tunes for you all real soon...just not sure how I'm going to make them available just yet.
Until the next one -
be good to each other -

FREE mp3 - and new youttube!
I’ve been writing like a mad-man lately. The songs have really been coming fast and furious. I’m very happy to report that being happy hasn’t killed my writing after-all J.
Moving on – In lieu (what a word) of boring your ears off about what the songs are about, when I’m going to be heading into the studio to record them, if I’ll be recording a new EP of said songs before the summer, etc, etc….
I thought I’d just give you one of my favorite songs of my EP (live) for free! J
Try Harder
This is live from Arlene’s Grocery in New York City – one of my favorite venues ever.
I end the tune with a really cool (in my opinion – if you differ then well…whatever, I’m just saying) loop with quite a few layers (all done live). Look for much more fun in the April dates – I’m bringing back live vocal looping – and yes, to my Toledo friends and fans abroad, yes, this means the triumphant return of my Howie Day inspired cover of “AFRICA” by Toto – tell a friend.
Big thanks to the Arlene’s staff for the recording
Get it free here: -> http://www.nickmotil.com/media.php
Or simply click the “media” tab above this blog on the site’s navigation – either way – just thought I’d make it about impossible to be like, “where? I can’t find the free song!!” – you’re welcome J
ALSO!! - here is a new youtube link that I posted :) http://tinyurl.com/yf74z8m
Until the next freebie
Be good to each other

Road Signs Approaching - New Music Ahead
Attached is a photo I snapped this morning leaving Maine...
I absolutely LOVE playing music. I love driving behind the wheel headed somewhere to play music. I love everything about performing music...especially my own.
I'm working on a couple home recordings to give away for the holidays as a thank you to you all for being a fan of music...my music. Or at least thanks for being my friend :)
more soon,
-Nick
Simpson College and Natalie Stovall
Played the 4th concert in a little over 3 years...at Simpson College last night - and that really got me thinking...
These guys and gals and I have kind of grown together. From the bright-eyed little freshman noobies that were all geeked about being college students, and being involved in any and everything they could get their adventurous hands on, like booking new music and comedy acts for their fellow classmates, and the joys and pitfalls of sororities and fraternities...Into young adults, ready to graduate (some of you! haha) and ready to take on new levels of involvement - get big kid jobs - and make mom and dad proud...prouder...or pissed. Either way, they're going to do it with class and style.
To those that have played hands in bringing me back again and again...To you, I say a warm thank you. I will never forget Simpson College or your kindness....not like this is a funeral or anything - just saying :) Rich Ramos - you run quite the operation, sir! kudos! I'll play any day of the week.
Also, big thanks to Drew for carting me from airport to hotel, hotel to show, show to hotel, hotel to airport in that poor Saturn that didn't do anything to anyone but drive down a highway and ruin a deer's life...twice? drive safely :)
NOW! The last two shows at Simpson have been with great friend, Natalie Stovall - All I had to do was allow my agent, Ari to meet Natalie, and the rest - as they say - isn't history, 'cause she has dates booked until she's blue in face...not that she'll stop...she'll just be blue.
She's a southern fiddle phenom that will more than likely be playing a bar or college campus near you, and if you have 5 minutes, that's all you'll need to stick around for the rest of her set. Her band is slick from her man on the drums, James, to Miguel melting your face with some of the best guitar licks I've ever seen live.
Give it a minute and check her out - you won't be sorry - she has a new record coming out next year and I, for one, can't wait to hear it! www.nataliestovall.com She's going to be huge - find out why.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for some more news from Natalie and myself too...we just might have things up our sleeves - besides elbows.
Keep loving eachother - holidays are coming.
Were you naughty? or nice?
I, for one, was extremely naughty - I feel though that Santa will still visit my house. We kind of have an understanding :)
Be well,
More soon,
-nick
A Blog to say that another blog is coming soon!!
Friends,
I've been working very hard writing some new tunes for a new record I'm hoping to release sometime in the spring or early summer '10!
I'm not the kind of writer that seems to be able to put out hundreds of songs - some ok, some good, some awful - I'm more of the "work at it until its good" and these just aren't quite GOOD yet haha!
However, I am hoping to have a new mp3 posted into the "media" section for you all to hear by the end of the WEEK! I really hope you'll enjoy it.
Also, I've just gotten some good news! we're going to be having some more Vegas dates in the future! Folks have been wondering when I'm going to get out into Vegas and play some tunes...well, keep your eyes and ears peeled, those are coming SOON!
until later in the week when you get a new tune to hear - check out the covers I've been putting up on youtube. Here's the newest cover of Babylon by David Gray

Garlic Festival - thanks for the great time, and the bad breath!
...last Saturday the rv was ripping its way up the central coast of California on the way to the wild metropolis known as Gilroy! Barrelling towards us were the amazing aromas of "fair foods" coupled with a smack in the face of garlic!
I had the chance to perform for the wonderful audience of the 2009 Gilroy Garlic Festival...
It was only months ago in April, on our way up to the north west to play for all those great schools back in April that we ripped through Gilroy for the first time...making us aware of "Garlic World" and the amazingness that is Gilroy, CA.
But as it turns out, these mo-fos know how to throw a festival. Even though its not a festival of sweetness and cotton candy; but garlic! They had 3 stages of music, food vendors from around the globe, and traffic being expertly wrangled from the north and the south to all collect at Christmas Hill Park to celebrate the wonders of garlic :)
Never before have I seen such wonders in the "fair" game as the Elkhart County 4H Fair in Goshen, IN...(I miss you yearly).
The set I got to play was on the Vineyard Stage sponsored in part by KRTY in San Jose, CA. The crowd that was there FOR ME was few but mighty! While those that were just "there" happened upon a great afternoon. It seemed to turn into a living room concert with about 2,500 people sitting on your rug sipping coffee listening to some songs I'd written...truly a wonderful experience.
You will all surely see me next year.
Viva garlic!
Wait...women are from where?
this is a picture i took from my balcony here in Nevada
believe it or not, its Venus
naked-eye kind of a photo, and with my cell's camera!
think about that...
that tiny little blip you can see on the picture (you might have to tilt your screen a bit) is Venus!
its another planet! why? was it God's 2nd attempt at getting the planet to be created further enough away to not burn us out while staying close enough to not make us all freeze?
and if he went in order, and got it right on the 3rd time, (guess it really is a charm) were all the other attempts down the line (mars, saturn, uranus, etc) all just trial and errors? and if so, why didn't he remove them? like editing? did he want us to always wonder why we can look at the sky and see a million other burning balls of gas...VERY similar to what we call the sun...and have no idea what they're for or why they're there?
just something to think about as bursts go off in the sky all this weekend, and we remember all it is we choose to reflect on and look forward to when it comes July 4th time....
think that there are other bursts of light behind those...that will never really be explained.
...thanks to my best friend for the amazing gift of my telescope...you have ruined my mind forever and i can't thank you enough :)
be well all, have a safe holiday weekend, and i challenge you to think a little deeper into space...
...drugs or alcohol may aid this, but they aren't necessary :)
happy 4th!
new site, new blog, new beard?
sorry, had to repost since the picture wasn't working out...I think I figured this new site out aferall!!
What's up new website?! This is my new blog section...apparently, you all don't get enough of what I have to say (joking) between Twitter, facebook updates, and other blog-gy type avenues....SO!

Thanks to everyone for coming by to check out the new website. I'm going to be blogging now, I suppose!! I've never been one for public tour journals, but I can assure you that this is going to be a fresh and wonderfully new beginning :)
